There are other options: classic (like the heel of a sock), hood or hood-collar. Choose any method and get down to business.

Step-by-step instructions with diagrams and job descriptions

Some have just yet to master the basics, while others already have considerable experience in needlework, but for each category of craftswomen the basis of their work remains step by step instructions with diagrams. They describe in detail, step by step, the sequence of actions that will lead to the creation of a beautiful, comfortable, original thing, knitted with your own hands. Description of knitting a sweater with a hood from the neck

  1. Along the edge of the neck of the finished assembled product from the front side, cast on the required number of loops. Using a knitting needle, fasten the working thread at the beginning of the row and make a knot.
  2. The next 2 rows are knitted in stockinette stitch.
  3. Continue knitting in short rows to create a classic hood. The pattern is simple: when knitting the front row, do not bring it to the end, leaving the last loop. At this point, the knitting must be turned, yarn over, then knit a purl row, and unfold again without finishing one loop. This creates two side parts that are knitted one after the other.
  4. The side loops close when the piece reaches the desired length.
  5. When knitting the middle part of the hood, you need to pick up the side loops and finish decorating the hood with an English elastic band.

  2. Cast on the knitting needles the required number of loops, based on the calculation on the knitted sample (use a 10 x 10 square for convenience). Next, knit an elastic band 3-5 cm wide, and then a rectangle, choosing any pattern, alternating front rows with back rows.
  3. When finishing the fabric, you need to divide the edge into three parts, two of which are knitted in a mirror like a scarf, and the third is closed with a safety pin.
  4. The final stage involves assembling the parts of the hood, the seam is made with the same threads using small stitches. You can decorate the ends of the scarf without any problems; tassels, pom-poms, fringes are suitable for this - anything to make the edge look beautiful.

This is my first online, so don't blame me. I accept advice, criticism, recommendations.

I make calculations in centimeters, then convert them into loops.

We will knit this model

First of all, we determine the required size:

For age: (3)6 months (1)2(4) years

Dimensions of the finished product (approximately):
chest circumference - (49)53(60)64(71) cm,
product length - (25)28(32)37(43) cm,
sleeve length - (16)19(22)25(28) cm.

My pullover pattern

This was the introduction.

So let's begin!

For the pullover I chose wool blend “Baby” from LAMA (Russia), 30% merino, 70% acrylic, 260m*100g, 2mm knitting needles.
I will knit in the round for size 74 (9 months).

First of all, I knitted a sample to find out the knitting density.
For a sample, I took a pocket that will be on a pullover.
I knitted a square 8*8 cm using stockinette stitch (21 loops*30 rows), and on the sides I knitted 2*2 elastic bands 3 cm long.

Knitting density was: 28 loops* 35 rows (10*10 cm)

For 9 months, I took the average value between 6 months and 1 year (53-60 cm) = 56 cm from “Dimensions of the finished product (approximate)”

So, calculations: for 56 cm of satin stitch I need 156.8 loops.
I will knit an elastic band 2*2 (n*4), in stockinette stitch go to 2*1 (n*3). 156 loops/3=52. n=52 loops.

This means that the elastic in circular knitting will be 52*4=208 loops, and the satin stitch will be 52*3=156 loops. In the last row there are elastic bands every 2 purl loops knit into one.
I make all these calculations so that the elastic is as wide as the pullover itself and does not pull the product into an accordion. I don’t like the accordion when switching from elastic to satin stitch. You can skip this step if you wish, simply calculating the required number of loops per pullover circumference.

We knit an elastic band 4 cm in height, then switch to knitting satin stitch until the beginning of the raglan - purl loops. I have 17 cm-60 rows.

This is what happened today while my son was sleeping:

The quality of the photos is not so great, as soon as the camera is returned to me, the photos will be of the best quality.

Description of work for size 74, knitting density 28p*35r.

Front and back.
On sock needles No. 2, cast on 208 sts, knit in the round 4 cm with a 2x2 rib. In the last row of elastic, knit every two purl loops into one (it turned out to be 156 loops). Then continue knitting in satin stitch (purl stitches). At a working height of 21 cm, close the loops for the armholes on the sides as follows: bind off 10 stitches, knit 68 stitches, bind off 10 stitches, knit the row to the end (136 stitches). Set aside the loops.

Sleeves.
On sock needles No. 2, cast on 52 sts, knit in the round 4 cm with a 2x2 rib. In the last row of elastic, knit every two purl loops into one (it turned out to be 39 loops). Then continue knitting in satin stitch (purl stitches), adding 2 stitches on both sides of the sleeve at 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 31, 35, 38, 42, 45, 49, 52, 56, 59 rows = 73 loops. Knit up to row 60, bind off the middle 10 stitches on the inside (63 stitches), set aside the remaining stitches.

Raglan.
Transfer all the stitches to circular needles No. 3, placing the sleeve loops between the back and front = 262 sts. Close the middle 10 sts in the front to form a cut and then knit in straight and reverse rows with a braid pattern (252 sts).
In the 1st row, at each place where the parts are connected, knit 2 stitches together. = 248 p. Mark 1 p. at each place where the parts are joined and then knit this loop and one loop on the right and left (3 loops). At the same time, for bevels of raglan in faces. row, decrease around every three stitches as follows: before them, knit 2 stitches together. broaching (= remove 1 st as a knit, knit 1 knit and pull it through the removed loop), then knit 3 knits. p. (= marked loops), then knit 2 sts together. = decreased 8 stitches for 1 row. Repeat such decreases in every second row 16 times = 252-128 = 124 sts. Then, to cut the neckline, decrease 3 loops on both sides from the middle front in 3 rows (-18 loops). At the same time, continue to decrease the raglan bevels in every 2nd row. Set aside the remaining loops.

Assembly.
Sew seams under the arms.

When knitting individual parts: back, front sleeves. The calculation is as follows: on the back we decrease 5 loops on both sides 78-10 = 68 loops, on the front we decrease 5 loops on both sides and 10 loops in the center (-20 loops), we get two halves of 29 loops each, on the sleeves we decrease by 5 loops on both sides 73-10 = 63 loops. On the raglan there are 16 decreases of 2 loops each (32 loops each: from the back 68-32 = 36 sts, from the sleeves 63-32 = 31 sts, from the front 58-32 = 26 sts). Then begins decreasing three loops per neck for 3 rows - decreasing three loops in each row (only from the front -18 stitches), at the same time decreasing in raglan 2 times. Then I knit another row for one decrease in raglan. There are 30 stitches left on the back and 25 stitches on the sleeves.

17.07.15
I apologize for the long absence.
I made the diagrams with errors - between the rows with crossed loops in a narrow braid there should be three rows, and in a wide one there should be seven rows.

7.08.15
So I returned after a short absence due to my son’s ill health - there was no time for a pullover at all. Now everyone is healthy, t-t-t!

I corrected the calculations for the sleeve (it was short). Calculations for raglan are not yet accurate. As soon as I re-tie the sleeves and take care of the raglan, I’ll edit

Calculations were performed using data from the tables I provided on the website http://www.mnemosina.ru/all-vikroiki/v-det-all/v8
I adjusted it a little to suit myself
It’s possible that I’ll make some adjustments to the calculations.

That's all for today. I hope I wrote everything clearly. If you have any questions, ask, I will try to help.
Easy loops for everyone
