Volumetric braided snood from Vanessa Ewing

Snood from Vanessa Ewing is very decorative - voluminous, bright, with embossed braids. It is knitted from pure wool yarn and can serve as both a spectacular detail of an image and a very practical protection from the wind.

Its dimensions are 20 cm in width and 90 cm in circumference.

The author recommends as a material 3 skeins of Galway Roving (100g/49m), wool yarn with a thick thread. Corresponding knitting needles, 10 mm in diameter; for braids you will also need an additional knitting needle. The braid pattern is described below, in the body of the general description. You need to take it apart at the very beginning of the work and use it to knit a pattern of 13 loops (pt). It should be 10 cm.

Description of knitting a women's snood in the form of braids

Snood is entirely done in braids with dropped stitches, in straight rows (rp).

We perform the initial set of 26 pt.

1st rp (IP - wrong side), installation: izpt - purl pt.

2nd RP (LS): 8 lcpt - knit stitches; * 1 izpt; 8 lcpt *; repeat 1 more time *-*.

3rd rp: 8 izpt; * 1 lcpt; 8 izpt *; repeat 1 more time *-*.

4th RP: like 2nd.

5th RP: like 3rd.

— we shoot on extra/sp 4 pt at work; 4 lcpt; we knit 4 lcpt with additional/sp;

— * 1 izpt; We film on extra/sp 4 pt at work; 4 lcpt; we knit 4 lcpt with additional/sp *;

— repeat 1 more time *-*.

7th RP: like 3rd.

8th RP: like 2nd.

9th RP: like 3rd.

Rows 2 to 9 make up our braid pattern.

We repeat it all the time, using up the yarn. On the last skein, seeing that there are about 5 m left, we finish the work in the purl row.

Next rp (LS):

- *drop the next stitch without knitting; lift the broach, the top one, onto the left knitting needle and knit it like a lcst; 8 lcpt *; repeat 1 more time *-*.

Next rp (IS): close all pts as izpt.

Carefully unravel the rows with lowered stitches, all the way to the base. We connect a ring of braids with a seam - it turns out embossed volume snood.

Scarf snood Silver knitted

Knitted snood in two turns, from very soft yarn, which contains merino wool, bamboo and acrylic. The color is light gray, almost silver. It is very soft, very warm, very stylish and at the same time very simple - that’s all about the Silver snood scarf.

  • Alize Baby Wool yarn (50 g/175 m) No. 52 light gray - 200 g,
  • knitting needles No. 4,
  • stitching needle knitted products, scissors.

The width of the snood scarf is 25 cm, length is 130 cm, closed in a ring. I intentionally included openwork “holey” stripes in the knitting so that when you put on the scarf in two turns, there would be an outlet, ventilation and air would circulate, so that there would be no greenhouse effect.
The knitting pattern is very simple - garter stitch with 3 loops along the edges, three braids of six loops, one purl loop between the braids and openwork stripes of four loops. Total = 3+3+6+6+6+2+2+2+4+4+4+4=46 loops.
We cast on the required number of loops, knitting in two threads, overlapping the braids (in my case) every 8 loops.
We continue knitting to the required length, sew the end and beginning of knitting, and as always WTO (wet heat treatment), dry it horizontally.
We are happy with the result :)
We insulate not only beautifully, but also stylishly!

Snood knitting with braids of different widths

A snood with knitting needles with braids and strands can be knitted in different ways: with one braid and strand, with several of these patterns, in combination with pearl and other patterns. You can make such a pattern with a combination different braids and flagella . You will get a beautiful snood - warm and dense.

The dimensions of a full-length snood with such a pattern should be no more than 80 cm - 120 cm. It should be put on in one or two turns - no more, otherwise the scarf will turn out to be too thick and uncomfortable.

Snood with knitting needles * Braid with shadow *

The “Royal Braid” was invented several seasons ago. A clamp using this pattern turns out to be voluminous and warm.

The diagram shows knit and purl stitches. To make a weave, swap the stitches. To do this, prepare an additional knitting needle.

Cast on the required number of stitches.
From the 1st to the 5th row, knit like this: 5 loops with the wrong side, 8 loops with the front stitch, 10 loops with the wrong side and so on until the end of the rows.
Now start knitting the braids according to the pattern: 5 loops on the wrong side, leave 4 loops behind the work, knit 5 loops in stockinette stitch, then knit the removed loops from the auxiliary needle in stockinette stitch.
Repeat 5 rows again, as from the 1st to 5th row, and then knit again according to the pattern.
When you have reached the end, close the loops and sew the snood. The tube scarf can be knitted lengthwise and crosswise. The main thing is to close it into a ring.

Knitting a snood with voluminous braids - a master class for beginners

In this master class we will learn how to knit a snood using pearl stitch and with voluminous braids on the sides. The braids give it texture, it looks very rich and beautiful. This snood is for those who love voluminous knitted items. The width of the finished product is 23 cm, length 155 cm. We will knit the scarf in turning rows, at the end we will connect it with a horizontal knitted seam, connecting the beginning to the end.

You can knit such a snood in 2 ways:

1. The first method is to knit a strip like a regular scarf, then sew its ends.
2. The second method is to knit a snood with circular knitting needles - you get a knitted ring without a seam.

Snood with pearl knitting, knitted from wool yarn. There are 100g of yarn in 150 meters. We knit with threads in two layers, respectively, the consumption is 75 meters per 100 grams. The yarn consumption for such a snood is 560 grams.

We take knitting needles 8 mm thick, also to knit braids we will need an additional knitting needle. We will use it to knit braids, and also at the end we will connect the snood, for this we will need a needle with a large eye. We start by casting on the loops on the knitting needles, cast on 39 loops , including edging.

  1. First row of snood

We remove the first loop - this is the edge loop. Next we knit 12 knit stitches. Next we will continue to knit with pearl stitch, starting with a purl stitch. We will alternate between purl and knit stitches. Knit 13 loops in this way. We knit the last loop with the wrong side, and we will have only 12 loops left, we knit them with the front ones. The last loop is an edge loop, we knit it with a purl loop. We turn the work around.

  1. Second row of snood

We will knit the second row, as well as all subsequent even rows, in the same way. We remove the edge loop, knit 12 purl stitches, then pearl knitting begins - that is, we knit the next 13 loops alternating purl and knit stitches. In general, pearl knitting means that a purl stitch is knitted above the knit stitch, and a knit stitch is knitted above the purl stitch. Next, there are 13 more loops left, we knit all of them purlwise, including the edge loop.
3. Third row.
In the third row we will make crossings. First, we remove the first loop, then we knit 4 knit stitches. We take an additional knitting needle and transfer the next 4 loops to it, leaving the knitting needle before work.

And knit the next 4 loops from the left knitting needle with facial loops. We return to the loops on the additional knitting needle; you can transfer them to the left knitting needle for convenience, or knit directly from the additional knitting needle. We knit these stitches with knit stitches. Next, we knit the next 13 loops with pearl stitch, starting with the purl stitch, alternating with the front stitch. We finish with a purl loop. There should be 12 knit stitches left on the needle. Now we knit 4 knit stitches, transfer 4 loops to a knitting needle and leave it before work.

How to knit an openwork snood with a braid pattern using knitting needles without a seam?

In order to knit a snood scarf without a joining seam, you need to use circular knitting needles. The braid pattern has many varieties. Therefore, you can use any option you like for snood.

Here are a few options for how to weave a snood scarf using circular knitting needles without a seam:

A huge selection of detailed descriptions of how to knit a snood can be viewed here, here And here

And I really like such things, because you can knit a very beautiful and interesting snood yourself, and at the same time be simply irresistible. You can choose the best quality of thread, the color that you like and suit, and knit such beauty yourself that will not only warm you, but will also be fashionable and beautiful.

For example, there is such an interesting and very simple option, with braids, this pattern can be used to knit a hat at once.

Here we use a large braid pattern, the simplest and easiest to knit for beginners. I also don’t like to sew, very much, so I secure the edges with a twist, it’s not visible at all and looks beautiful.

    Here detailed description this knitting.

    For the hat:

But here is a more interesting, but also a little more complex pattern for a snood, which you can rarely see on the street.

You can adjust the number of loops yourself, as best you like; if there are more loops than there are in the pattern, you can add the same number along the edges and knit with garter stitch, it will be both comfortable and beautiful to look at.

And here is the pattern diagram for our snood.

But if you really want no seams, then you can use these types of snoods, only we will have two braids, and you can choose any patterns that we like.

But a detailed description of such work can be seen here.

Snood always looks original and unusual in comparison with simple cap and a scarf.

To make snood in the form of braids you will need 5 mm knitting needles and four skeins of beaches.

The diagram and final result are presented below.

To get a seamless product, you need to knit in the round; to be honest, with a braid pattern, an openwork product is unlikely to work.

An interesting pattern of knitting in the round, a transformable scarf and below the pattern of knitting a snood in the round and a product with a seam.

Indeed, seamless things look neat, and besides, the seam can rub your neck. Snood scarves have become part of everyday life and are suitable for absolutely everyone. There are a lot of options for knitting a braid pattern, here are the most interesting, in my opinion, videos:

I offer this wonderful thing for sophisticated ladies:

This may serve a good gift for the holiday of March 8th or for a birthday. Or you can treat yourself to your loved one and knit such a thing as a gift to yourself.

    Here's how to do it:

  • Such patterns have become very popular today. And with the onset of autumn, this topic becomes even more relevant.

I don’t know much about knitting, so I suggest you watch an excellent master class from real experts:

Here's a helpful comment left under the video:

I started knitting for the first time circular knitting needles oh, 80 cm, and they turned out to be long for 138 loops. I started knitting a hat and my elastic began to stretch when knitting in the round, and I had to move the loops all the time, my fingers and hands began to hurt. I already thought that I wouldn’t be able to do anything and that it wouldn’t be convenient to knit on circular ones, but I found your video and now I understand how to make knitting easier and I think the elastic band won’t stretch now.

Description of patterns and options for stylish snoods.

Snood (scarf-collar) today it is considered popular again. It is very warm, attractive, and helps against strong winds and severe frosts. These qualities are especially important if the snood is made with your own hands.

How to knit a snood for a woman: new models with descriptions

A snood is a scarf closed in a ring. There are several types of snoods:

  • In the form of a tape and a continuous ring.
  • In the form of a ring that fastens with hooks or buttons.
  • In the form of a closed ring, twisted on the inside, and so on.

To decorate the snood, you can use a wide variety of decorations, for example, small pieces natural fur, beads, rhinestones. If you decide to knit such a scarf for yourself, you should know that you can do it without special effort. The most important thing is to cast on the required number of loops, choose the most interesting pattern, understand the principle of connecting loops at the end of knitting.

Before you start knitting, carefully think through each step and prepare for the process. Don't think that a snood scarf is easy to make. The first piece of advice from all professional knitters is to knit a trial version first.

Cast on twenty or thirty loops, knit about fifty centimeters with the pattern you like best. The resulting sample will allow you to see how a pattern is made from threads. In addition, if you take measurements of the desired model, you will be able to clearly and correctly calculate the number of loops required for the snood.

If you have some knitting experience, then the following pattern will not bring you any difficulties. This pattern is usually used to make winter scarves, hats and snoods. As for the snood, with this pattern you will get a one-sided version, but despite this it will also look very impressive:

  • Braids are performed on purl the side on which the entire main pattern is located.
  • Use as many loops as you see fit for the braid.
  • But here the size of the bundle also depends on the thickness of the threads - the thicker the threads, the more voluminous your braid will be.
  • Cast on the required number of knit stitches and knit one row.
  • Then knit taking into account where the harnesses will be located.
  • Calculate the loops so that the braids are located symmetrically on the surface of the scarf.
  • Knit the satin stitch with purl stitches and the weave stitches with knit stitches. From the inside out, knit the way the knitting will look.
  • Knit ten rows like this. Make weaves from the face: divide the loops in half. Leave one and transfer the other half to the auxiliary knitting needle.
  • Using this method, knit a strip all over the scarf.

We knit a snood with a double-sided pattern using knitting needles: pattern, diagram with description, dimensions

The main pattern of such a snood is herringbone. It is very simple because it is done using knit and purl stitches.

Knit a sample first. This way you can find out how many loops fit into one centimeter. If you have thick yarn, you may end up with two loops in one centimeter.

This means that to make this type of scarf you need to cast on 80 stitches. To prevent the edges of the scarf from curling over time, run one purl loop, one knit stitch, and one purl loop along each edge. So, let's get to the main drawing:

  • Cast on one knit stitch, one purl stitch, one knit stitch, seven purl stitches, one knit stitch, one purl stitch, one knit stitch, seven purl stitches, and so on.
  • Repeat the pattern like this: knit knit stitches over the knit stitches, and purl stitches over the purl loops.
  • To make a “herringbone” in each subsequent front row, add one more front loop after three additional loops. You yourself will notice how the drawing will gradually move.

New items 2017-2018

In pursuit of fresh trends for the autumn-winter season, many fashionistas choose men's or women's snood for themselves and as a gift. Scarves can be plain or in the form of a “Mobius strip”, which allows for a tighter fit around the neck. There is an option where the snood is not sewn into a ring, but is fastened with buttons; such accessories have a small diameter.

One-turn products have different lengths- they are worn over the head in the form of a hood, or are intended solely to warm the neck. When choosing the first option, the pattern is drawn along the short or long side of the product.

How to knit a snood with knitting needles? The knitting pattern depends on the type of yarn; thick products with relief patterns and braids, openwork designs made of mohair, and models created using the jacquard technique. Fur and beads are used for decoration.

An excellent solution for a coat or jacket would be a light gray shade of RicoCreative TwistSuperChunky. The principle of rice knitting is based on the alternation of one person. and one out. loops, but the main difference from a single elastic band is the alternation of loops. Purl stitches follow the knit stitches in subsequent rows and vice versa.

Sizes according to the age of the owner:

From 3 to 5 years: 150 mm - width and 990 mm - length.

From 6 to 8 years: 180 mm - width and 1130 mm - length.

From 9 to 11 years: 200 mm - width and 1270 mm - length.

For adults: 220 mm - width and 1410 mm - length.

Preparation of materials:

RicoCreative TwistSuperChunky thread (1 skein 100 g) in light gray shade No. 004

For children from 3 to 5 years old, 1 package is enough.

From 6 to 8 years: 2 packs.

From 9 to 11 years: 2 packs.

Adults: 3 packs.

The knitting needles are straight with stops 1 cm wide (No. 10).

Density: 15 rows and 8.5 loops = 100*100 mm.

Step-by-step instructions:

On the knitting needles, based on the selected parameters, cast on 13 (15; 17; 19) stitches and knit rows:

1st row (on the front side): *1 stitch in satin stitch, 1 purl. p.*, knit from * to * to* the end of the row, the last loop needs to be knitted. Continuing knitting, you should repeat the 1st row, forming a “moss” pattern. Upon reaching 99 (114; 128; 142) cm, the work should be completed.

Product assembly

Sew the short sides of the scarf. Place the snood on a flat, hard surface, for example, on a table, where you first need to lay out a towel or sheet. Place a wet terry towel on top. Leave until completely saturated with moisture. Remove the towel from above and leave the scarf in the specified position until completely dry. The snood is ready to wear.

English gum

To work, you will need a thin wool thread (50 g), knitting needles No. 9, scissors and a needle.

The first row is knitted according to the pattern:

One stitch in satin stitch, 1 yarn over, slip off unknitted stitch. Repeat. This is how you need to knit the entire row.

When performing the 2nd row, you need to yarn over, remove the loop without knitting, knit the loop and yarn over from the previous row together.

For the 3rd row you need to: knit a yarn over with a loop from the previous row, throw on a thread, remove the loop, without knitting.

All further rows are represented by alternating the 2nd and 3rd rows until the specified height of the scarf-collar is reached.

To connect the beginning and end of the snood, many knitters prefer to leave the loops open on the last row. Putting the knitting needle with loops aside, you should use a crochet hook and an additional knitting needle to cast on the same number of loops from the beginning of the product. The result will be 2 knitting needles with loops in different edges of the scarf, directed in one direction.

The knitting needles are applied one to the other and with the help of the 3rd knitting needle, all the loops from the two working knitting needles are closed in order. The resulting seam will be thinner than usual, but more reliable.

If you use several shades of yarn when creating a scarf, the item will turn out more colorful and attractive.

Snood “Pink Ash”

Fishbone Snood

Width: 250 mm.

Finished length: 600 mm.

To work you will need 300 g of Bulky yarn (100-120 m in 50g). Aran yarn looks good (160 - 200 m per 100 g), provided that the number of loops is increased and knitting needles with a smaller diameter are used.

Circular knitting needle sizes 6 and 7 mm. When choosing bigger size knitting needles, a looser fabric is formed. To create a test sample, SchulanaMerlana yarn (55m/50g) 6 packs was taken.

Basic actions:

Cast on 180 stitches on 6mm circular needles, leaving a marker at the end of the row, connect the knitting and knit in the round.

Using 6 mm knitting needles, you need to knit 6 rows with the order of front and back rows (create garter stitch).

1 row knit. n. Change knitting needles to 7 mm - knit 1 row. on 7 mm knitting needles.

To achieve a given height, the scheme proposed below will serve. Even rows must be knitted according to the pattern.

1 row of faces. sts on 7 mm knitting needles.

Change the needles to 6mm and knit 1 row of knits.

Knit 6 rows in garter stitch, alternating knit and purl stitches, bind off stitches.

Children's options

Snoods, scarves and collars, and scarves made from thick yarn are ideal for children. For girls adolescence they will also work quite well.

Snood made of very thick yarn

One of the proposed options is equipped with one button. The thread is very voluminous (80% acrylic, 20% wool, 100 m/170 g).

Below is a skein of very thick yarn:

To eliminate errors in calculations, you should cast on 20 loops, having previously selected knitting needles with a thickness of 9 mm. After the 10th row, you should calculate the number of loops per 100 mm. This way you can find out how many loops are required to achieve the desired length.

Preparation of material:

Bulk threads - 1 skein.

Stocking needles - 9 mm.

Button - 1, width 2 cm.

Buttons - 3 pcs.

The product has a width of 22 cm, length - 66 cm. Initially, you need to cast on 65 loops on the knitting needles, then knit using circular knitting needles, since knitting is carried out along the width. If you don’t have circular knitting needles, you can use regular knitting needles, but the knitting will be tight. Having cast 65 stitches (the number can be changed depending on the type of yarn), it remains to knit 15 rows with knit stitches. After closing the loops, you will need to sew a button and buttons from the inside.

Material blanks:

  • Thread - 1.5 balls.
  • Buttons - 4 pcs.
  • Buttons - 4 pcs.

Brief instructions:

  • Throw 22 stitches onto the needles and knit 8 rows.
  • Row 9: knit.
  • 10 r.: purl. P.
  • 11 r.: 22 purl. p. + yarn over
  • 12 rubles: 23 persons. P.
  • 13 r.: 23 purl. p. + yarn over

Add until you have 33 stitches. For the lapel, you can use garter stitch or 2/2 elastic as the bottom of the snood. Knit up to row 48, which will allow you to get closer to the middle of the product, and then knit in a mirror image. It is important to track the symmetry of both halves. Close the loops. Sew buttons and snaps on the inside.

Snood clamp

The pattern is based on alternating knit and purl knitting. The resulting product can be worn down, around the neck, under a jacket, or over the hood. The product wears especially well in winter time years, since during severe frosts the lower part of the baby’s face will not freeze.

Below is a knitting diagram:

The list of materials includes:

Baby Wool (200 m / 50 g) - 2 balls.

Stocking needles 4 mm. You can use simple ones (3.5 mm), then sew on the fabric.

When using knitting needles with a diameter of 3.5 mm, an increase in their number is required. The resulting product will have a width of 52 cm and a height of 24.5 cm. You can increase the parameters after trying on.

Scheme for casting on 80 stitches:

Rows 1 and 2: 1 stitch in satin stitch, 1 stitch inside out, 1 stitch in satin stitch, 1 stitch inside out. Repeat until the end of the row.

Rows 3 and 4: 1 stitch inside out, 1 stitch in satin stitch, 1 stitch inside out, 1 stitch in satin stitch. Repeat until the end.

Then you should repeat as in row 1. A “tangle” pattern is formed. When using circular knitting needles, you need to mark the beginning of the row with a pin. Next you need to continue knitting to a given height (can be measured using a ruler or meter). The collar is knitted to a height of 21 cm (58 rows), and then you need to pick up an elastic band of 2/2 (2 knits, 2 purls) for another 3.5 cm (7 rows). At the end of the knitting, it remains to close the loops.

Long scarf

Scarves or shawls with long stripes are the hit of the season. The stripes are sewn to the product upon completion of the work. They can be thin or wide. The endings are decorated with tassels or fluffy pompoms.

To create tassels, use a piece of cardboard with the given parameters, where you need to stretch the thread over the top and wind the yarn. The splendor of the tassel depends on the amount of thread. Then you should pull the top thread tightly and make an additional tie below, also tighten it. Trim the bottom of the brushes with scissors.

To create a scarf, use regular garter stitch; you will need knitting needles 9 mm thick.

Cast on the loops as in garter stitch. For the scarf, use light gray yarn with white stripes. The thread is half-wool (50% wool, 50% cotton).

The thickness of the spokes is 8 mm. 10 cm of knitting = 13 loops/16 rows. Cast on 6 stitches on the knitting needles and knit, adding 1 stitch in all rows. Knit with increments to the row where there are already 22 stitches. Further width is maintained at 22 stitches, with a white thread added after 10 rows. Then use a light gray thread to the specified length. Having decided on the center of the product, you should continue knitting in a mirror image. Finish the scarf with 6 loops, add a pompom.
