Wire basket. Master class on wire weaving: Basket Baskets made of aluminum wire

I want to talk about an unusual weaving of baskets from ordinary cross-connecting wire, wire and telephone cable. Crossing is a thin flexible wire that makes up a cable. It is bright, colorful, and products made from it are also colorful and cute.You can get such material without problems.

With a large basket you can go to the forest to pick mushrooms, or go to the country.

To work you will need a cross cable, a thick cable, a telephone cable, pliers, an awl or a thick large needle.

Any basket begins with weaving the bottom.

The bottom can be oval or round. A thick cable must first be folded evenly 3 times or started to be twisted into a spiral, depending on the shape of the future product.

This is why pliers come in handy to straighten a thick cable; it should lie neatly, evenly and tightly. We immediately begin to braid it with cross-linking, the picture shows how.

The ends of the crossover can be cleaned and twisted into a spiral so that it holds firmly and it is not noticeable how the ends of the two crossovers are connected. (Probably most of you immediately remembered how you braided rods in childhood at school). After weaving the bottom, we move on to the walls of the product; a thicker wire is braided with a thinner cross-link, and the cross-over is inserted under the weaving of the previous row. For this, an awl or a thick needle is useful to make it easier to insert the wire.

The product always ends with a braided thicker cable. Colored wire is wound tightly in a spiral around the wire, handles are also made for large baskets. Or you can leave the cable unbraided.

For large baskets, it is better to weave the walls from telephone cable; the product will be lighter.

For many, hand-made things are of great value because they help create an atmosphere of comfort.

The decor becomes more original, original details appear that bring individual features to the interior.

Modern stores have a very large selection of interior accessories. Various useful little things can be quite expensive, especially when you need not 2-3 things, but whole set baskets, vases, paintings, etc.

For this reason, many people choose the option where they can decorate the house themselves.

You can get many advantages from such an idea - the thing will turn out beautiful and exactly what you need - it will be easy to use and fit into the overall interior. At the same time, you won’t need to spend on it big money or it will be completely free if all the materials are available.

Storage systems will always be useful in the home. Wicker baskets perform such functions perfectly. The process itself can even turn into a hobby that you can engage your family and friends with.

Paper basket

It will not be necessary plain paper, and wrapper. She could stay in the house, but if not, then she is not expensive and can be bought in large quantities. You can find it in hypermarkets, flower shops or shops with similar small items.

Brown paper looks good on curves and has a nice color. As a last resort, you can use wallpaper instead of paper; they have a similar texture.

To work you will need a machine, paper clips and glue. The paper needs to be cut into even strips and folded several times. The denser our blanks turn out to be, the more reliable our paper basket will be.

To make it more convenient to work and the product to look more aesthetically pleasing, the edges of the tape are stitched with thread. Indentations are made in the region of 5 mm. The color of the thread is chosen to match the overall color of the room. You can take black threads, they will look good with any color scheme.

In order to further secure the product, the strips are coated with glue. Silicone is best; it sets quickly.

Newspaper basket

You can make your own basket from either paper or newspapers. The principle will be approximately the same. Even decorators often use this method of decoration. Black and white stripes look quite original and bright.

Newspapers are still quite relevant today, despite digital technologies. People value them just like books—for the ability to touch and smell the print.

Many people have large stacks of old publications at home that have nowhere to be identified. It is quite possible to make a dense product out of them - it could be a fruit basket or a container for storing small items.

We will need scissors and glue. As with paper, we make a lot of blanks in the form of smooth ribbons and weave them together. To make the basket more reliable, it is lined with thick tape of any color.

Fabric baskets

From old fabric you can make a good laundry basket. You can also store children's toys, magazines and newspapers in it, and even use it as a cover for flower pots.

Note!

For work you will need plain and decorative fabric and threads. From decorative and plain material you need to cut out 2 blanks - a circle and a rectangle. They must be the same length.

Then you need to fold 2 circles and 2 rectangles with the wrong side and stitch them. After that, we sew everything together and you're done.

Perhaps the first works will not look like a master class on how to make a basket, but with practice, you can make quite decent products that will not only be free, but also beautiful and functional.

Many housewives will agree that sometimes some things simply have nowhere to go. This is especially true for small things that seem to be very necessary in the household, but get in the way or are not always at hand. At the same time, finding a suitable option in a store can be quite difficult.

In the photo of the baskets, you can see options that are easy to make at home, completely free or for little money.

Note!

We bring to your attention an excellent master class on weaving a mini-basket with your own hands from waxed thread.

To weave such a mini-basket you will need:

Shape (bottle cap)

Wire for frame + brown paint;

Waxed thread;

Plastic/thick cardboard for the bottom;

Ruler with circles;

Glue, a piece of plastic;

Tools: wire cutters, awl, tweezers, drill.

Basket weaving step by step:

Paint the wire with brown paint (Figure 3). In order to weave a basket you will need a mold (in this case 2.5 cm high), you can take a regular cap from a bottle of hairspray (Figure 4).

Attach the cap to the plastic and trace along the contour with a pencil, cut out a circle that will become the bottom of the future basket (Fig. 6). Next, you will need the tools shown in Figure 8.

Prepare the wire using wire cutters. You will need 16 pieces. about 2.5 cm long and one 10 cm long for the handle (Fig. 9). Using an awl, mark the location for drilling (Figure 10). Drill a small hole (Figure 11). Take a wire (10 cm), coat one side with glue and insert it into the drilled hole (Fig. 12).

Roughly mark on the circle where you will have the wire (basket frame) (Fig. 13). Then mark with an awl and drill holes. Insert the wire after lubricating it with glue (Figure 14-16).

Then paint it in Brown color the resulting shape (Figure 17-18). Bend the wire into shape (Figure 19-20).

Start weaving using waxed rope (Figure 21). This is followed by the second row (Fig. 22), etc. (Figure 23-25).

Check the evenness of the weaving, if necessary (somewhere below or above), correct with tweezers (Fig. 26).

Trim off excess waxed thread and remove excess wire with wire cutters.

For the rim, use painted wire (Figure 30). Wrap the wire around the mold (Figure 31). Bite off the excess with wire cutters, leaving a small margin (Fig. 32).

Then straighten the wire and wrap it with dyed thread (Figure 33-34). Bend the already wrapped wire around the mold again (Figure 35).

Place the form into the cart. Coat the upper part of the basket with glue (Figure 36).

Weaving from wire, felt, from newspaper tubes will allow you to use waste material and make a chicken for Easter, a basket, a vase, a cat, a lizard.

How to make a chicken for Easter - paper weaving

You can make it from paper tubes.

To create such a character, you will need:
  • yellow paper tubes;
  • round form;
  • Titan and PVA glue;
  • acrylic lacquer;
  • knitting needles with a diameter of 3 mm;
  • brush;
  • clothespins;
  • elastic bands;
  • a piece of wire;
  • scissors;
  • twine or thread;
  • glass eyes for toys.

First you need to roll 70–80 tubes from yellow paper. Now we need to prepare them for subsequent work. To do this, take more than half of the tubes, moisten them with a spray bottle, leaving the ends dry. Wrap the tubes in cellophane, and the ends that are not moistened with water should look out. If they suddenly become wet, then dry them with a hairdryer.

Thus, these blanks must wait 15 minutes. The rest of the tubes will be dry, take 2 pieces from this series. Place two more of the same on them perpendicularly. These will be the racks. Place a pre-moistened tube diagonally on them, folding it in half. Now fly around the posts using a rope pattern.

Thus, you need to complete two rows, then spread the racks and braid each separately. You will get something like a sun with a small middle and four rays.

Take 8 dry tubes and place them between the existing rays. You will get 18 racks. Braid them to make the bottom. Next, the chicken should have a semicircular shape, to do this, continue to create it on a product of this shape.

To prevent the bottom from moving out of the mold, tie it to it with twine.

At this stage, the working tubes will gradually end and need to be expanded. To do this, cut the ends so that they become sharp and connect at an angle to another tube using glue.

When you have weaved the shape to the desired height, remove it. Pull the posts slightly toward the middle and make three more rows.

Press the bottom of the basket slightly inward to make the product more stable.

You need to cut off the tip of one working tube, grease it with glue and secure it with reverse side, hiding there. Leave the second one, as you will use it to create the chicken's tail.

This weaving is very interesting, as it allows you to create wonderful things from paper. Using the chintz pattern, you will need to complete 5 rows. Gradually narrow them so that you get something like a triangle.

Secure the working tube at the top by tying a knot like this.

Secure it with PVA glue and clothespins. Wait for these materials to dry. Don't forget to bend the ponytail back a little so that it takes the correct shape.

Fill a syringe with hot water and spray on the posts. Then they will become more pliable. But first you need to wait 10 minutes for this to happen.

Grab one of the posts with a knitting needle and pull it out. You need to do the same with all the other struts that will form the wings. There will be 3 pieces on one side and the same number on the other.

Now start shaping the head. It is performed similarly to a ponytail using a chintz pattern.

But this part should be 25 cm long. Therefore, you need to gradually increase the tubes, gluing them to the previous ones, weave a rectangle like this.

Cut the working tube and posts. Secure them with glue, and using an elastic band, secure the rectangle folded into a circle.

To carry out paper weaving further, you need to insert a tube next to the wings to now weave them.

Make them like a ponytail so that these parts also become triangular. Now you can start working on the beak. It consists of two paper tubes, insert a wire into the middle of each. Fold each of these pieces in half.

Paste these elements into place. Take a thread and a needle and tie the thread around the beak.

If your thread is orange, then you don't need to dye it. If it’s a different color, then take a color of that shade and paint over the nose. Glue the chicken's eyes into place, after which you need to let the work dry and you can put an Easter egg or candy inside.

The threads are also very interesting to weave with. Many needlewomen still have scraps of this material that you can use.

How to make a panel from threads?

This tree looks great against the backdrop of bright, plain wallpaper. By hanging it on the wall, you can admire such a picture. But first you need to take:
  • wooden frame;
  • twine or thread;
  • PVA glue;
  • beads.
Using scissors, cut 20 strands of twine. Their size is easy to determine; each of these segments should be 4 times larger than the frame. But for now, fold the threads in half and tie them to the top crossbar. You can also attach several to the upper sides.

Place beads on some threads. These wooden elements will symbolize tree leaves.

Now weave braids from the ropes. Take the threads not in a row, but skipping several pieces at a time.

Again, in such a chaotic order, take several strands and weave further tree branches.

Then divide all the threads into 3 parts and weave a trunk from them. Now distribute these ropes horizontally and tie them to the bottom of the frame with knots.

Trim off any excess strings. If you wish, make another panel from threads, then you will have such a cheerful tree with ribbons.

Cut an even number of ropes so long that when you tie them, they are 2 times larger than the frame, plus 10 cm. One should be the longest, you will hang it in the middle of the frame. Attach all the rest on both sides of it.

Wind the loose thread around the bottom of the frame. Pull the others here and tie them down.

Start making knots, gradually moving from the bottom to the middle. Then you will have a trunk.

Weave a ribbon into the crown, moving from the middle to the top.

Sew on a few beads to make the tree festive and elegant. Weaving from felt will allow you to use leftover materials. You can take fabric of several or pubic colors.

How to weave a felt basket?

This idea will appeal to those who do not know how or do not like to sew, since the work involves weaving fabrics without using sewing machine and needles. Take:

  • strips of felt measuring 50 by 2 cm - 19 pieces;
  • scissors;
  • sticker;
  • lace;
  • pins or clips.
First, place the 7 strips next to each other. Attach it to the end of each strip, this will make it easier to work with.

Find the middle of this base and weave the 8th strip here in a checkerboard pattern.

As you can see, next to it you need to fasten another one in the same way, and it’s convenient to hold this workpiece with clips. Next come five more stripes, all of them should be located symmetrically to the middle and in a checkerboard pattern.

Now you need to make the walls from the remaining 5 strips. Connect them into a ring, fixing them in this position with a stapler, glue or thread and a needle.

Now twist the first one into a ring, creating side walls from it, gradually giving it a square shape. Secure this workpiece with clips or pins.

Now, in the same way, but in a checkerboard pattern, attach the second ring here.

Using this principle, you also need to secure the remaining strips. At this stage you will have already created the bottom and walls.

The long ends of the felt strips need to be cut and bent through one, either from the inside or the outside. Attach these parts with clips.

Now you need to tuck the tips of the top ribbons inside. This way you will make the outside beautiful. To make the inside look amazing, turn the basket inside out and tuck the ends here in the same way.

Return the product to its original position and you can decorate it. For this you will need a cord. It needs to be pulled from above through the outer side of the tapes in a checkerboard pattern.

If you want to decorate the product with a sticker, then take light felt and a sublimation picture. Place the sublimation picture on the felt and place masking tape or thermal tape on them. Iron to transfer the image. Once you've done this, remove the tape and remove the paper-based image itself to take out the felt one.

Cut it out and stick it on the basket. This is such a wonderful thing for storing various little things.

Using weaving, you can create other wonderful interior and exterior items.

How to weave from wire - diagrams and master class

This cat is very durable. It can be left at home or taken out into the garden for the summer as a sculpture. Such a cat is not afraid of precipitation, and you can save a lot, since then you will not need to buy figurines for the garden.

If you have wire lying around in your workshop or garage, then you don’t even have to spend money on it. If not, then here's what you'll need to purchase:

  • wire with a diameter of 2 mm, from which you will form the base of the cat;
  • wire with a diameter of 9 mm and 1.5 cm to decorate the surface of the sculpture;
  • wire with a diameter of 1.5 cm to create the body;
  • thin wire with a diameter of 5 mm for the mustache.
First, take the bulkiest wire and form the frame of the cat from it. Make her body, four legs, base for the neck and head.

Now you need to give the product volume. To do this, take a wire with a diameter of one and a half cm and begin to wrap it around the frame in the area of the body and upper parts of the legs. Twist this material randomly, but so that the cat begins to take shape.

Continue in the same way, but now take a thinner wire with a diameter of 0.9 mm. This is good for highlighting small details such as paws, head, ears. Also compact the cat's body with it.

To form the ears, first make 2 triangular frames for them from thick wire, and then braid them with thinner wire.

Now remember what a cat looks like and wrap part of its body with wire so that they make a realistic sculpture. Attach several pieces of wire to her nose, which will turn into a mustache. Paint your new pet, you can also use silver paint for the body and whiskers, and black for the rest of the parts.

You can make not such voluminous figures from wire, but flat ones to hang on the wall. Watch the following tutorial where you will learn how to make a beautiful, long-lasting fish. This is how it will turn out.

To do this, take:
  • thick copper wire for a frame with a diameter of 1–2 mm;
  • thin wire 0.2 mm to connect the parts;
  • wire cutters;
  • round nose pliers, thin nose pliers;
  • pencil;
  • paper;
  • beads.
Create a model of the fish yourself or redraw it. Then, using thin-nose or round-nose pliers to help you, roll the outlines of the fish according to this pattern. It is better to bend individual pieces of wire into spirals to decorate these parts, and they are safe and not sharp.

We continue weaving from wire further. Where these materials come into contact with each other, you need to connect them with thin wire. These places are marked in red in the photo.

Now place the wire frame on a large piece of paper and trace it. Divide the belly and back frame into 6 parts and connect these parts as shown in the photo.

You've got small fragments. Create your own or use the patterns provided to fill them in.

You won't get confused if you number these parts.

Look at the hint diagram and start bending the elements of the fish with the appropriate tools. Some you can put beads on.

To ensure that the braided wire pieces are level when you create them, tap them with a hammer on a flat surface. Now, looking at the main hint diagram, you need to fill the fish with the created elements. Strengthen them with thin wire, and if there are any gaps left, put beads here and fix them.

Fill the tail and fins with wire, bending it wavy, snake or spiral.

To make an eye, take a bead and thread a wire through it. Curl the tip of this metal stick to secure the decoration. Next, bend the wire around the bead, helping yourself with special tools. You can attach the eye to the base with a thin wire.

Wire weaving goes well with beads.

If you like this kind of lizard, then take necessary materials to create it. This:
  • thin and thick wire;
  • beads;
  • wire cutters and pliers;
  • two beads;
  • pen;
  • paper.
When working with wire, be extremely careful so as not to get hurt when turning it in different directions. Also be careful with the wire cutters.

First, draw a sketch of a lizard on paper, see what curved elements it will consist of.

Take a thick wire, it should be 6 times longer than the resulting lizard, and start bending it as needed. Attach the wire to the face of this reptile by making a loop here.

Using pliers, mark the wire, then shape the legs and body of the animal, as well as the tail, and pass the wire from the lizard's nose to its tail.

Attach a thin wire to the reptile's head. Place beads on it and fill the lizard's body.

Fix the thin wire on the central thick one, also on the sidewalls to secure the turns. If the wire runs out, you will need to extend it. Thus fill the entire body and begin to form the paws.

To do this, you need to tie a small diameter wire on them and also string beads.

If you like to weave with wire, then watch another small master class with step by step photos, which will tell you how to make a vase.

Take:

  • copper wire;
  • dark electrical tape;
  • wire cutters;
  • scissors;
  • a piece of fabric;
  • hot glue gun.
First make the base for the vase. This element will be round. Now you will need 6 identical pieces of wire, which will become the side walls of the product. Attach them to the round base by folding the loops. Cover these connecting parts with insulating tape.

Create two more circles from the wire different sizes. Attach the large one to the center of the vase, the small one at the top. Also connect the parts using electrical tape.

Cut strips of fabric and wrap them around the metal parts of the product. Secure these strips using a hot gun.

All that remains is to place a vessel with a real plant in this vase or put artificial flower. This product looks fresh and modern.

This is how interesting it is to weave from various materials. Decide which type of job is most interesting for you. If you have a lot of newspapers at home, you can use them. Then you don’t need to spend money on consumables. You will decide what to make from newspaper tubes by watching the presented video.

If you want to weave with wire, then the second video will help you understand the intricacies of such needlework. Make the same stylish bracelet, which the master class will teach you how to make.

Today we want to invite you to make a wicker basket with your own hands. It will fit well into your interior or become an original gift friends and colleagues.

For such a basket we will need:

  • wire (I bought bronze-colored aluminum wire with a diameter of 1.5 mm at a craft store, but you can replace it with copper, not very soft, twisted in 2 folds)
  • connecting rings for jewelry
  • white acrylic paint
  • raffia
  • pliers
  • flowers or other decorations to fill the basket.

First, we create the frame of our basket - we form several identical rectangles from wire. I have them small in size 11 by 8 cm.

I made an overlay at the joints and secured them with jewelry rings (pulling them together).

For such a small basket I needed 4 rectangles.

When they were ready I connected them at the corners.

I received this frame.

I made small handles on the sides. You can make them lower and larger than mine - as you like.

I reinforced the bottom of the basket with two more transverse wires and painted the frame with white acrylic paint.
Aluminum wire is soft enough, so you can easily create any shape. You can, of course, further strengthen it - twist it in 2 folds (but it will be more difficult to do) or tightly wrap it with copper wire over the finished frame. But I got by anyway.

Then I wrapped the handles, the verticals in the corners, the upper and lower rectangles with raffia - I have natural raffia, it is tougher and more difficult to glue. Along the way, I applied a little PVA glue to the frame itself, and strengthened the beginning of the raffia with hot glue, but you can do it with Moment, you just have to hold it longer for it to fix well. Paper raffia is softer and sticks easier.

Next we begin to “weave” the basket. I simply wrapped the frame (as in the photo) with raffia from the top rectangle (from the handle side) down, through the bottom and up to the opposite side and back - thus capturing 2 sides and the bottom. You can wrap it around and then wrap the bottom or in any other way.

The result is such a weaving

and a basket.

I put some green raffia at the bottom of the basket.

After the basket is ready, you can sew a little case or half-case for it, like mine. I used a very nice vintage fabric with text on it. I measured the length around the perimeter of the basket + 1 cm seam allowance. My width is quite small - 8 cm.

I folded it facing inward and stitched it. I used an iron to form the top and bottom edges (wider at the bottom, because I will insert the ribbon there).

I turned it inside out and made small slits for the handles.

I processed the edges of these slots - you can use bias tape or in the same way as in the photo:

I stitched the top and bottom of the half-cover

and inserted a vintage olive colored ribbon.

I put the half-case on the basket and got this beauty:

Our basket is ready and you can fill it with the gifts of autumn - everything you like. I like pumpkins and flowers. A small photo of MK, everything is clear here.

For them I used furniture fabrics and knitwear orange color, wire stamens, twigs with burgundy buds, which I also disassembled into stamens.

The composition was supplemented different colors- gypsophila, wildflowers, daisies, hydrangeas, cherry flowers, twigs and needles.
