DIY autumn wreath of acorns “Breath of Autumn”

This will decorate any interior.

Materials:

  • Tree branches (willow, willow);
  • acorn caps;
  • scissors;
  • sewing threads (light green, dark green, brown);
  • jute cord;
  • wool for felting (orange, yellow);
  • liquid soap;
  • water;
  • soup plate;
  • hand towel;
  • felt (light green, dark green);
  • album sheet;
  • a simple pencil;
  • Super glue;
  • sewing machine or sewing needle;
  • glue gun

1 step

We tie the willow branches together in a circle. Let's grab the branches with sewing thread so that it doesn't fall apart. Having given the wreath its shape, we finally secure the branches with a jute cord in a circle.

Step 2

We felt an acorn from wool using the wet felting technique. Felt small pieces of wool into an oval. Using the acorn caps we adjust the size of the wool acorn.

The number of acorns depends on the size of the wreath. It didn’t turn out very big for me, so I needed 10 acorns. It turned out 5 orange and yellow acorns. Let the wool ovals dry completely, and then glue the hats with super glue.

Step 3

Let's make 2 oak leaf templates. They should differ in size and shape.

Using the template, we cut out leaves from light green and blue felt, 6 pieces of each color.

Sew the veins using a machine, but you can also do it manually with a regular sewing needle.

Step 4

Using a glue gun, glue the felt leaves together and glue them onto the wreath.

Glue acorns on top of the leaves.

Step 5

Cut one and a half meters of jute cord and fold it in half.

We form a loop 15 cm long and make a knot at the end.

Golden autumn inspires creative deeds! We invite you and your child to make an autumn wreath of pine cones and acorns. Remember how fun it is to collect them? Take your basket with you and go for a walk in the park.

To make a wreath, you will need 5 items:

  • foam base for wreath
  • jute fabric ribbon
  • bumps
  • acorns
  • glue gun
  • scissors

Attention!

Before you start assembling the wreath, the acorns and pine cones need to be processed. Wash the acorns, separate from the caps and bake for 2 hours on a foil-covered baking sheet at 200 degrees. Baked acorns do not rot and do not attract insects.

The cones also need to be baked to harden the resin. You can place them on a baking sheet with the acorns. Bake the pine cones for 1 hour.

Step 1

We wrap the foam base with jute tape. Secure the tape with a glue gun.

Step 2

Having finished the winding, secure the end of the tape glue gun and cut off the excess tape.

Step 3

We cut off the excess threads. The base is ready.

Step 4

Attach the loop holder. With its help, the wreath will be attached to a wall or door.

Step 5

Let's start decorating the wreath.

This stage can be performed together with your child: you work with a glue gun, and your son or daughter attaches cones and acorns to the base.

Some decorating tips:

  • Place the elements tightly to make the wreath beautiful.

  • Work on large areas of the wreath first, and only then fill in the remaining space.

  • There will still be a small distance between the base and the decorative elements. Disguise it with small acorns.

  • Glue pine cones and acorns to the sides of the wreath.

The wreath is ready! You can hang it on the wall, decorate the door with it, or place it on the table with a candle inside.
