Knitted flowers on knitting needles - master class

Chrysanthemum

Let's start with simple flower– chrysanthemums.

How to knit such a flower with knitting needles: you need to knit a long cord - about 1 meter. To do this, cast on 215 stitches on thin knitting needles (No. 2.5) and knit six rows stockinette stitch, close them. Form loops from the resulting lace and sew them to each other with regular sewing thread. Just wrap the rest and sew it to the middle.

Rose

Let’s complicate the task and try to knit a rose:

  1. Cast on seventy loops and knit 8 rows in regular stockinette stitch, then cast off 10 loops twice on each side. Then close all the loops. You should end up with a strip with a wide middle and narrower edges. It curls a little at the top.
  2. You need to take this strip facing you with the cast-on loops facing up. We begin to twist the rose, gradually connecting it together closed loops. After each turn, grab the bottom with sewing thread and form a rose. The second edge should be hidden under the petals.
  3. To complete the look of the flower, you can also knit a petal. You need to cast on 5 stitches in addition to the two edge stitches. Now in each front row, on different sides of the central loop, we yarn over three times. In the purl rows we knit simple purl loops.
  4. Afterwards, we knit two rows in stockinette stitch, and knit the outer loops on the left and right together with adjacent loops in each front row. Gradually you will reach the point where there will be 1 knitting loop left in addition to the two edge stitches. Knit them together, then break the thread and tighten the loop.

Tea rose

A tea rose knitted on knitting needles looks very delicate.

How to knit such flowers with knitting needles:

  1. Cast on 60 stitches on the needles, knit 4 rows in the form of a 2x2 elastic band.
  2. After - in the front row between everyone facial loops cast on 1 loop and knit 6-8 rows.
  3. Cast off the stitches on the front row.
  4. Twist the resulting strip loosely into a spiral, slightly unfolding the petals.
  5. Tie all layers with sewing thread, hide all the threads remaining from knitting.
  6. Place several beads and glass beads on a nylon thread. The last bead should be. Then thread the needle and thread in the opposite direction without threading it through the last bead. Now you can connect the rose with the stamen. Our rose is ready.

Aster

Now let's connect the air aster.

For this we cast on twenty chain stitches, unroll the knitting, cast off 17 stitches, and knit the remaining three. Again we cast on 17 air loops, repeat the process, knitting 3 loops with purl stitches. We continue until the ribbon becomes 15 cm. Using a basting stitch, we sew the ribbon folded lengthwise with the tail remaining from the set, close the circle, tighten the thread and secure it. The magnificent aster is ready.

In this collection you will find diagrams and descriptions of how to knit voluminous flowers. Among them are large and small roses, chrysanthemums, daisies and other knitted flowers.

Knitted flowers are used to decorate interior items or clothing, and also as a separate accessory: hair clips, brooches or bracelets.
Besides the practical component, knitting flowers is a very exciting activity in itself.

Try knitting flowers using knitting needles from leftover yarn, which most needlewomen have in huge quantities. And you will see for yourself that all knitted flowers will very quickly find their place, be it a blouse, a dress or a lamp.

This voluminous and fluffy flower is knitted from mohair and decorated with fur, and in the center of the flower there is a large round bead and a scattering of beads. The shape of the flower is similar to mallow or even camellia. Diameter knitted flower— 10 cm. The flower consists of two knitted parts and a piece of fur.
If you like this idea, knit two pieces of fluffy yarn or mohair on circular knitting needles, hollow double elastic band. See the flower pattern diagram in the picture. . Knit one piece on 180 stitches for 28 rows, taking into account that the elastic is double, the width of the piece will look like 14 rows of stockinette stitch. Knit the second part on 140 loops for 24 rows. After the required number of rows are knitted, it is necessary to tighten all the loops. To do this, break the working thread, leaving 30 cm for work, and remove all the loops on this thread, close the ring, pull it tightly and secure the thread.

Flower assembly
Having prepared two knitted parts, we cut out a small circle, 5-6 cm in diameter, from a piece of fur matching the color of our yarn and begin assembling the flower. We put all three parts together and sew them together using a needle and matching thread. At the bottom there is a large knitted part, a fur part and again a hollow rib knitted part. Sew a large bead in the center of the upper part of the flower, and embroider the flower with beads around it. Don’t be lazy and sew each bead separately from the rest, choosing the color so that it turns out something similar to radiance. In this example, beads of golden, lilac and coral shades are used.
At the bottom of the flower in the center, you can knit a backing using a hook. Knit a simple single crochet circle and sew it to the bottom of the flower.
How to knit a simple circle: crochet a chain of 6 air loops and close it into a ring; into the resulting ring, knit 12 single crochets in the 1st row; 2nd row – 18 single crochets, 3rd row – 24 single crochets, 4th row – 30 single crochets, 5th row – 36 single crochets. Just 5 rows and a neat backing for the bottom of the flower is ready.
Now you can make an exclusive decoration from the finished flower. This could be a bracelet, brooch or hair clip.

Knitting roses- this is the easiest way to knit flowers . To get such a rose, all you need is to knit a long strip using stockinette stitch. The number of turns of the rose will depend on its length. In this case, the rose is knitted from 136 loops.

Flower knitting pattern: cast on 136 loops on the knitting needles and knit 10 - 14 rows in stockinette stitch (in odd rows - all stitches are knit, in even rows - purl). Due to the structure of the pattern, the edge of the knitted strip will fold inward, forming a soft tube with the inside out, these will be the rose petals. Having knitted the required number of rows using a hook or needle, remove all the loops onto the working thread. Pull the loops together, rolling the knitted strip into a spiral and secure the resulting rosette by carefully stitching its edges from the wrong side. The knitted rose is ready!

You can also use the method of spiral twisting a knitted strip to knit roses with a 2x2 elastic band. If you knit a flower with an elastic band, the edge of the strip will not curl and will create a completely different relief of the petals.

Flower knitting pattern: cast on 58 loops on the knitting needles and knit 4 rows with a 2 x 2 elastic band (1 edge loop, *2 knit loops, 2 purl loops*, 1 edge loop); in the fifth row, between every 2 knit stitches from the transverse thread we knit another 1 knit stitch = 72 loops. In this way, knit another 6 or 8 rows, adding 14 loops in each front row (1 loop, in the center, between the front loops. In the ninth row, close all the loops. Now we twist the knitted strip into a spiral, unfolding the petals. The base of the flower is pulled together and sewn To complete the composition, use fishing line and glass beads or beads to decorate the middle of the flower. knitted rose ready!

And here's another one interesting way knitting flowers with knitting needles. The formation of petals in this method is achieved by raising the dropped loops.

The knitting pattern for this flower is as follows: cast on 65 stitches and knit in stockinette stitch for 10-12 rows. In the description for this flower they write that the first row needs to be cast on with waste thread, then unraveled and closed with a row of purls more tightly. Personally, I don’t see the point in this, if the cast-on edge is not stretched, it will be tighter than the main knitting, and will also curl slightly towards the middle. Therefore, you can safely knit with a working thread and not invent unnecessary problems for yourself.
When the required number of rows are knitted, lower every 9th stitch to the cast-on edge. Lift the thread from the dropped loop onto the knitting needle and knit. Now we remove all the loops onto the working thread, tighten them and close them into a ring. Using a needle, securely fasten all the loops in the center of the flower and carefully sew the edges of the closed petals.

To make the center of the flower you will need a cord that is sewn into a “pancake”. You can tie such a cord in any way convenient for you. If you don’t know how to tie a cord, see our article.
We sew the finished center into the center of the flower and our knitted flower is ready!

By the way, you can make independent flowers from the cord. It is enough to tie a cord of the required length and place it on the finished product in the intended shape. It can be a flower of five, six, three or four petals, it all depends on your imagination. All that remains is to carefully sew it on and the knitted flowers are ready.

Using the dropped loops method, you can knit a flower with more pronounced petals. Flower knitting pattern: cast on 56 stitches, knit 14 rows in stockinette stitch. Knit the last purl row according to the pattern: 1 edge loop, 4 purl, 1 slip loop, *8 purl, 1 slip loop*, 4 purl, 1 edge loop. Unravel the dropped stitches from the needle to the penultimate stitch from the cast-on edge. In the next row facial loops knit with knit stitches, lift the broaches and knit a knit stitch out of them. Now you need to reduce the total number of loops in the row. To do this, in the next purl row, knit all the loops of the row 3 loops together purlwise. After all the loops of the knitted row, gather onto the working thread, pull and fasten. Sew the outer halves of the petal with a vertical knitted seam. The middle of the flower can be decorated with a button, beads, or other accessories at your discretion.

Want a more avant-garde topography? Try linking the following floral motifs knitting needles

The knitting pattern for this flower consists of 12 rows, which must be repeated 5 times to form 5 petals. The flower is knitted in garter stitch, that is, all stitches in both the front and back rows are knitted. Cast on 6 loops and knit according to the pattern: 1st row: 3 knits, 1 yarn over, 3 knits; 2nd row and all even rows, knit all stitches, and knit yarn overs with knit stitches crossed so that no holes are formed; 3rd row: k3, 1 yarn over, k4; 5th row: knit 3, 1 yarn over, knit 5; 7th row: knit 3, 1 yarn over, knit 6; 9th row: 3 knit, 1 yarn over, 7 knit. knit in this way, adding 1 loop in each front row until you get 12 loops. In the 12th row, cast off 6 loops and repeat the pattern from the 1st row.

To form a flower, the resulting zigzag tape must be stitched with a basting stitch. We make a seam by retreating 3 loops from the straight edge, that is, along the line of yarn overs. Pull the thread and sew the ends of the knitted ribbon, closing them into a ring. The embossed edge of the ribbon, pulled together in this way, forms 5 lower petals, and the smooth edge forms the middle of the flower. Decorate the center of the flower with beads or seed beads.

In order to knit a chrysanthemum with knitting needles, you do not need any special skills. All you need to know is to cast on and bind off the loops, and also knit.

We put 20 loops on the knitting needle, leaving a small tail of thread, about 20 cm long. This left thread will be needed later to fasten the flower. Unfold the knitting and bind off 17 cast-on stitches, knit the remaining 3 stitches. Cast on the needle again with 17 yarn overs, turn the work and cast off with 17 yarn overs. At the same time, in the front rows 3 loops need to be knitted with the front ones and in the purl rows - purl. Knit in this way until the length of the central part of the ribbon reaches 15 cm or the length you need. As you already understand, the density of the flower will depend on its length. When the required length is reached, fold the ribbon lengthwise, inside out, and sew with a basting stitch using the thread you left earlier. Close the entire ribbon into a ring, pull the thread and secure well.

A 15 cm long braid will make a hollow chrysanthemum, the middle of which can be decorated with beads or a button. If you need a more voluminous chrysanthemum, tie the braid longer. And when you tighten the thread to form a flower, twist the braid into a spiral, as when knitting a rose.

Rose

There are a great variety of knitted roses; let’s look at the technology for knitting such decorations. Knitting such a rose is not difficult, so no pattern is required:

Knitted flowers look more natural if complemented with knitted leaves. There is no special pattern for knitting leaves, but to create natural leaves we recommend using yarn overs during the knitting process. Cast on 7 stitches on the knitting needles, including edge stitches. In each front row you need to make 1 yarn over on both sides of the central loop. Repeat the increases 3 more times. We knit purl stitches without additional loops;

Knitting flower- roses do not require special skill and are accessible even to novice needlewomen. This voluminous flower will look great as a decoration on a hat, blouse or jacket instead of a brooch, on a knitted handbag, like decorative element on any knitted product.

The flower is formed from a simple knitted strip. Cast on 12 stitches and knit a strip in stockinette stitch 50-70 cm long.

Determine the place on the product where the flower will be located. Draw a circle with a washable marker, bar of soap, or chalk. The diameter of the circle should be 6-7 cm.

Mark the center of the circle and five points along the circle line at equal intervals, for this you can draw a star in the circle.

Now thread the thread through the darning needle and make stitches from the marked five points on the circle towards the center. To do this, fasten the thread on the wrong side, bring the needle through the first point to the front side and insert the needle into the center of the circle, making the first stitch. Then bring the needle to the front side through the second point on the circle and also insert the needle into the center. Make five stitches in succession; they should not tighten the knitted fabric and at the same time should not be too loose.

Sew the end of the knitted strip to the center with a few invisible stitches.

We begin to form a rose. To do this, weave the knitted strip through one stitch at a time.

Having made 3-4 circles of petals, when the strip ends, secure its end with a few stitches to the knitted fabric.

This is how the knitted rose turned out - a cobweb.

Using the same principle, you can make a rose from two knitted cords. The pattern of the rose petals resembles a twisted pigtail. The flower can be made of any size depending on the intended circumference and length of the laces.

Tie 2 laces 50-70 cm long. Knit the cords on two knitting needles, casting 4 loops - see the knitting description.

Make 8 stitches on the drawn circle, dividing the circle into eight equal segments.

Sew the ends of the cords to the center of the circle.

Now begin to form a rosette, alternately passing the cords under the stitches through one and at the same time twisting them together.

The simplest and most ordinary thing can be changed beyond recognition by decorating it with something.
Let's take flowers for example. In this area, the scope for imagination is enormous. Using knitting needles you can make cute roses.
I bring to your attention a lesson on knitting them. I use acrylic yarn (360 m per 100 g), knitting needles No. 3, hook, needle.
So, let's start knitting roses with our own hands.

Using any method known to you, we cast on 60 loops.

We knit 10 rows in stocking stitch (knit rows - knit stitches, purl rows - purl stitches).

Now we knit the row purlwise, but at the same time we take the hook and at equal intervals (for me it’s 10 loops) we lift the “loop” of the cast-on row onto the knitting needle.
In this case, we insert the hook into the loop arms on the wrong side every two loops on the third.

We put the raised loop on the left knitting needle and knit it together with the next loop. And so on until the end of the row.

If you have a decker, use that instead of a hook.

It is much more convenient to perform this operation with a decker. Thanks to the closing tongue, the loop does not slip off.

We got these pockets.

We close the loops in any way. From the front side the future rose looks like this.

Now we connect the first and last rows together and stitch with a needle.
The seam doesn't matter, you can just baste it.

Next, we begin to roll the resulting strip into a rose. Like this.

We again take the needle in our hands and sew the lower part of the rose: we need to grab all the layers with a thread so that nothing comes out from the front side of the flower.

Almost done, just a couple more stitches for strength.

This is how the rose turned out. Depending on the number of rows knitted, your rose can be in the form of a bud (you need to knit more rows) or a well-bloomed flower (we need to knit fewer rows).

In my opinion, leaves go well with such roses, crocheted according to this scheme:
7 chain stitches + 1 air loop lifting; turn the knitting and knit 1 single crochet, 1 half double crochet, 3 double crochets, 1 half double crochet, 1 single crochet.

The leaf looks like this.

This is what the roses look like together with the leaves.

Knitting roses with knitting needles is finished!
Having picked up required colors and by arranging related elements, you can decorate, for example, a children's hat.
